May 5, 2009. Rho’s townhouse. 1918 hrs.
“Why are all the streetlights out? Why’s it so dark here? What’s all that noise? Why do I have to wear this pullover? Why-”
“Oh my God kid! Do you ever stop asking questions?”
“My mom says when you stop asking questions that’s when you get com…compl…complacent. Com-pla-cency breeds as false feeling of safety which leads to sorrow.”
“What the hell kind of thing is that to teach a kid?” Nolan muttered as he locked up behind them. This wasn’t the safest neighborhood. In fact, it looked as if Rho had invested in one of the last good homes on the block.
Julius shrugged as he scratched at his side. “Mom said I gotta be prepared for everything because anything could happen.”
“Your mom sounds like a nut job.”
“D-don’t talk about my mom Nolan.”
Nolan raised an eyebrow at the thread of steel that had entered the kid’s voice. “Fair enough. What about your dad? Can I talk about him?”
The kid shrugged. “Everyone talks about my dad.”
“Not very high up in the pack is he?”
“Nolan?”
“Yeah?”
“You could never hurt a kid right?”
“No, that’s just chicken shit.”
“And Caine? Do you think-”
“Look kid, Caine’s had a rough life. The last thing I think he’d do is hurt a defenseless kid. It’s not in any decent Lycan’s DNA.”
“Okay. It’s almost dark. Are we gonna reach his house before then?”
A cat hissed at them from amid the garbage. Nolan let out a rumbling growl causing the cat to scamper away. He looked down at the kid and smiled. “No worries kiddo. I got your back.” Nolan’s steps faltered when the kid’s small hand slipped into his.
“Okay then. Let’s do this.” He straightened his bony shoulders and Nolan allowed himself to be tugged forward.

Safehouse. Same day. 1845hrs
“Clothes! Clean, clean, clean clothes!” Alana sang underneath of her breath as she opened closet after closet. This Rho character had to have at least four closets full of clothes. Not to mention the dressers. Alana whipped out a frothy looking dress and pressing it to her body danced around the room. Most of the clothes still had tags on them. It was wonderful! Wonderful! And shoes! Lord bless the man!
Putting the dress back up Alana took a shirt and a pair of shorts off a hanger. She had washed the outfit yesterday in preparation for today. Slipping it on she sighed in contentment before bending down and fastening her shoes.
She looked good. She wasn’t one to usually studied herself in the mirror but…
“I look good!” The haircut was slowly growing on her and the shoes made her legs look fantastic. But it was highly unlikely that she’d be able to run in them, she thought absently then froze. The reality of what she just thought sank in. Having to run at a drop of a hat was her reality now. No ifs, ands or buts. Giving the shoes one last, wistful look she toed them off and rummaged around for a pair of flats.
When she walked into the living room she noticed that Caine wasn’t even paying attention to what was happening on the big screen in front of him. He was staring out the window at the slowly darkening sky. Grabbing the remote, she was surprised he wasn’t holding it in his hand, she clicked off the TV. He didn’t move.
“Caine?”
“Have a seat Alana,” he said evenly. Frowning at the back of his head she walked around to the other side of the couch and gingerly sat down. He turned his head to look at her and she drew up her legs at the serious expression on his face.
“What is it Caine? Nothing could be worse than what I’ve already been through.” He grimaced and she shook her head. “That’s not-”
“No, you’re right.” Sighing, he slid down to the floor and idly began to pick at the carpet.
“How much do you know about wolf hierarchy?”
“Well, I know you have the alpha pair, the beta pair right behind the alphas and various other pack mates. Adult and juvenile. Then you have the omega who is the lowest ranking wolf. Pretty much the geeky kid in a room full of athletes.”
She looked down to see Caine with a grin on his face. “What?”
“You. Your brain is amazing to me. Anyways,” he said as her chin tilted proudly. “So, you know that thing that I said to Franklin? About you being mine?”
“Uh huh.”
He waved his hand and raised his eyebrows. She shook her head. He nodded back at her.
“You don’t even know me.”
“Doesn’t matter.”
“It does matter to a normal person!”
He stared at her then slowly got up from the floor.
“What are you doing?”
“I don’t like the look in your eyes. ”
“Sooo…you’re gonna what? Run? That’s only going to make me want to chase you down.”
Alana watched as he rolled his shoulders almost if he were preparing to run. “Look Caine. I don’t really know you. Just because we’ve been thrust together the last few months doesn’t mean anything.”
“True.”
She relaxed slightly only to tense up at his next words.
“Still doesn’t change the fact that you’re my mate. Do you really think I’d just let you walk away?”
“You sound like a crazed stalker. Aren’t you Lycans-”
“You’re a Lycan too.”
“-Rational human beings as well?”
“Sure. When we want to be.”
Alana stepped down from the couch and they stared at each other. Sucking in a deep breath she darted to the right. She heard Caine’s boots hitting the floor behind her.
It wasn’t long before Caine had her backed up against the door. She flinched when he reached out only for her breath to catch when he tilted her chin upward to look at him.
“I’d never intentionally hurt you, you know that right? I should have left you alone but I couldn’t. Not even from the start. Can you really say that you don’t feel anything?”
“I don’t feel anything.” The lie seemed to burn her throat. Caine’s laugh brought her eyes back to him.
“You’re such a fucking liar. But that’s okay. I know you’re scared.”
She slapped his hand away from her face. “Oh yeah, reverse psychology is really going to work.”
Caine’s arm wrapped around her waist and his free hand cupped the back of her head. “I can smell it. The fear…the arousal. If you want me to kiss you ask for it.”
“You’re annoying.”
“Ask.”
“Why you think anyone would want to kiss you is beyond me. You’re rude, I think you’re slightly crazy and-”
“You know you want to ask.”
Her arms rose. She wanted him to kiss her. She’d studied his mouth while he slept. Wondered at the feel, the warmth.

When will they just KISS ALREADY? I know right! Blah!:P New layout is new. Not sure if I like it yet(haven’t figured out a way to turn off the hover picture thing) so yeah…Alana and Caine got mini-makeovers. Nothing drastic. I just stripped the makeup from her face, added rensims nose masks(when I made her I didn’t have that in my downloads!) and gave her ASK’s lips, added some eyebags and stuck some lashes on her. Caine just got the lips and the nose masks. And how come I didn’t realize how big his nose was until now? LOL!

I ♥ the safe house too! Simsurbania is awesome! It’s supposed to be apartments but I kept it residential and just decorated it as I went! I actually had fun doing it too!
I actually did place a number of beds in there for…whoever! Haha! I might have went overboard!

Julius is adorable! He has this weird voice in my head that just makes me grin when writing him!

I adore Nolan. And I felt so bad for Julius, asking about whether he would hurt a kid. What a mess that poor baby has had to deal with.
Laughed so hard at Caine’s little monologue in the mirror! He could try poetry LOL!!! And Alana needs to spend some time thinking about things too. It has been MONTHS, not days. She cannot realistically claim they don’t know each other.
This was wonderful! The tension between Caine and Alana, the sorrow Julius has had to contend with, and the comedy, fantastic combination!

He’s awesome! And I feel for Julius! His dad really jerked him around so he’s leery of pretty much any male! But he’s a kid so he bounces back pretty quick! He’s shown that!

The hover thingy should be removable on the main stylesheet. Just search “img”–it’ll either be like the post img or overall img class. Bah. I hate when they do that, LOL!
Ahhh, Alana and Caine… these two are such a mess, but they’re getting better. However! I will say I’m actually GLAD Nolan interrupted them. I think they both need a bit more time. Caine has admitted its predominantly instinct, but what does he feel? And Alana, too. Jumping into this for physical need won’t get them anywhere.

Gah! I hate it too! Not all the time but for this particular theme he made it WAY too dark/light! I’ll fiddle around with it. I took out a bit of the coding and it didn’t change anything so I’ll dig a little deeper!
Exactly! They do need a little more time, especially Caine I think. He doesn’t want mess anything up but like you said…which is interesting because I was going to add that but I was already over the word count for the prompt! *cough* They each need to step back. I wanted something simple! And everyone knows that I don’t stay with layouts for any length of time…for whatever reason. I might do some tweaking to it here or there but I’m liking it alot so far! And I fixed the hover thing! Thank goodness! It was annoying me!

Website makers can be so devious! It’s always the option of 3 colours or you get that ONE design that looks great but your just not digging the colour so much
