Rho’s residence. May 09, 2009. 2345hrs.
“Tell me what you know Nikita.”
“I don’t know much Rho. She’s kept a pretty low profile since she disappeared at the beginning of the month.” Nikita swirled the contents of her wineglass idly before heaving a sigh. “Caleb’s been in and out of his various circles which lead to the tip off. How could she betray us after all these centuries?”
“You must remember how Victoria started out Nikita. Her hunger was always fierce. I should have seen this coming.”
“Rho, you can’t see everything.”
“This I know! But to have her telling our secrets to Ethan…but she won’t tell him everything. Victoria enjoys having the upper hand.”
“What about her drinking his blood?” Nikita asked softly.
“The blood oath. Both of them will be harder to catch but if we kill one-”
“The other will be incapacitated for awhile.”
“Correct.”
“She’ll be stronger from his blood.”
“Da. Lycan blood is like a malestorm through the veins. Especially if the one who drinks it hasn’t had real blood in decades.”
Alana tried to listen to what Rho and the woman, Nikita, were saying but the man sitting insanely close and staring unblinking at her was making her nervous. She swallowed dryly and fidgeted nervously. The way he had called her little human let her know that he wasn’t. Darting a glance at him from the corner of her eye he grinned wickedly showing elongated incisors. She quickly looked away.
“So, you’re what the fuss was all about huh?”
“I-I don’t know what you mean?”
“Oh, I think you do.”
His voice was smooth and seemed to wrap around her, pulling her in closer to him. Shaking her head she tried to ease away without being obvious. When he chuckled she knew she’d failed.
“Do you really think you’d get far if I decided to hunt you down?” he purred.
Alana’s head whipped around and she felt her upper lip curl. She was tired of being taunted and threatened. ”Do you really think that I wouldn’t fight you?”
“Oh, wee little pup has her tiny claws out. Fucking adorable.” He winked at her. ”I’m just fucking with you because I know it’ll jack Caine up. Where’s the aspiring alpha anyways?”
“Are you always so condscending?”
He shrugged carelessly. ”Pretty much yeah.”
“Rho? What’s going on? Mitchell said you needed to see me?” Caine looked around the room, his eyes narrowing slightly when he saw how close Ulrich was sitting to Alana. He received a grin in return. Shifting the frame underneath of his arm he looked at Rho who stared at him a moment before looking away.
“I have failed.”
“Rho-”
“What? It wasn’t-”
“Would you two shut the fuck up!?” Caine yelled as Nikita and Ulrich stumbled over each other to explain what Rho meant.
“Listen here pup. I will-”
“Yeah, yeah. We can have a pissing contest later. What do you mean you failed Rho?”
Rho still refused to look at him. ”Victoria has aligned herself with your cousin. Tell him Nikita. I find that I thirst after all.”
Caine watched Rho glide into the kitchen before yanking open the fridge door. When he uncapped a bottle of thick reddish liquid Caine looked away. Carefully leaning the frame against the wall Caine turned to Nikita. ”What’s the deal?”
“We fear that Victoria will lead Ethan straight to you.”
“What the hell did I ever do to her?”
“I think it’s what she wants to do with you that’s the problem.”
“What do you…ah hell! That’s just…she’s always bitching at me and looking down at Lycans. What the fuck kind of twisted shit is that?”
“It’s Victoria. She kills two birds with one stone.”
“What does Ethan get out of this?” Before Nikita could speak Caine snarled. ”No. He’s not going to put a fucking finger on her.” He stalked over to Alana.
Ulrich took one look at his face and got up. Rho took his place and stared up at Caine as Caine stared down into Alana’s confused eyes.
“What?”
“Do you remember going to the hospital after I scraped your finger?”
“Yes.”
“Do you happen to remember the doctor that saw you?”
“Sure. She was gorgeous. Snow white hair but not a day over forty.” Alana heard Ulrich snort and felt her face get hot. Forty was nothing to the majority of the people in this room.
“Anyways, that doctor was my cousin’s wife. I’m pretty sure she told him about you. He’s put two and two together with the help of Victoria. Christ.” Rubbing at the back of his neck he closed his eyes.
“Sooo…”
“It means that he’s gonna want you for his bitch…literally.”
“Thank you Ulrich!” Caine snapped.
“This is my fault. I should have watched her more closely. I knew something was odd about the way she was always watching Caine but I didn’t think…”
“None of us did.”
“It’s not like I want her anyways,” Caine grumbled as he shot a look at Alana. She still looked dumbfounded then she shook her head.
“Okay, what do we do?”
The room fell silent as everyone turned to look at her. She shrugged. ”I’m not just going to wait around for an ambush and I’m not going to be the victim so we need to come up with a plan.”
Ulrich whistled. ”Well, not so little claws. I’m impressed.” He winked at her then turned back to watch Nikita pace the length of the room.
“My brother and Xavier are out searching for more info now. When we find out anything you’ll be the first to know. Just try to vary your routine. Don’t make it easy.”
“Indeed. Victoria doesn’t know in which of my houses I’ve placed you in. I have several more spread about the city. Use your cell phones instead of a landline.”
“And I’ll go join Caleb and Xavier on the hunt.”
“The hell you will!” Ulrich snapped as he pushed away from the wall.
Alana watched the two of them argue in fierce undertones then let out a startled yelp when Caine scooped her up. Throwing her arms around his neck she tried to wiggle out of his lap. His hand curling on her hip stopped her.
“You know, there is another section to this loveseat.”
“Yeah, I know that. But I like you were you are. Would you relax?”
Alana realized she was sitting awkwardly in his lap and tried to relax when something poked her in her other hip. She slowly turned her head around to stare at Caine. His eyes laughed down at her before he turned to stare at Rho was was lost in thought in the middle of the room.
“Is that a flashlight in your pocket or-”
“Nah, I’m just fucking happy to see you.”
Alana’s head dropped to his shoulder. ”What am I going to do with you?”
She shivered when he nipped at her ear. ”I’m hoping you figure that out real soon princess.”

Good LORD!! My computer is giving me fits. I wanted to work on the next prompt after this but then the graphics went all screwy and I about tossed it out the window. So, I had to mush pictures that I thought I was gonna toss that had been sitting in WP since March(hello Southerland pack that we haven’t seen since here!)but they kept walking in on various shoots so I figured they needed to be brought back into the storyline anyways. For a refresher on who’s who go here. Shade=coverage so I figured two groups trying to come at Caine and Alana? Someone is bound to be ignored since the focus is on one or the other. Just saying! *whistles innocently* Oh! Thanks dolly_riot for the use of Ulrich!
Don’t know when the next update will be. I gotta figure out what the deal is with the computer and I’m going on vacation in about a week so I gotta prepare for that. But I do have the general idea for the next one…possibly if I don’t change my mind. Probably won’t because it’s eating at me. Hmm…think that’s about it. I was going to get Rho on the couch but computer=douchebag sooo…

Haha, I love Ulrich, he’s so annoying, and the way he bounces off the other characters is really entertaining.
Gosh, I hope Nikita has gone to the good side for real, since she seems to be pretty good at double-agent type things… I guess Rho would probably know that though.
I hope they don’t beat the crap out of Dom or anything, she could probably help them against Ethan, especially since she’s left him now.

You mean Vivian? Nikita never did the double age thing. Nik was the one who wanted to kill Vivian here. She doesn’t play around.
I don’t think Rho would let them beat Dom up. At least not until he had information out of her!
He’s really thorough like that which makes Victoria’s betrayal that much harder for him to take.
Not all the members of the Southerland pack will listen to Odin. Just saying…

Ulrich (why did I write this as Ulright =_=) made me laugh, and Caine as well. XD ‘Tis a bit of a sticky situation for them, though, both Ethan and Odin planning their moves on them right now. They really sodding lucky Rho is looking out for them.
I hope you’ll be able to slap your computer into submission eventually! Rho on the couch is definitely something I’d love to read.

OMG! I need Caine and Alana to do it already. The sexual tension is killing me LOL! But I guess making sure that Odin and Ethan don’t kill them is a bit more important right now. Looks like his alliance with Rho and his vampire crew is right on time. I really want him to get his hands around Ethan’s throat. Killing his father and messing with his woman…it’s time Caine took him the hell down.
I hope your computer decides to act right soon because an on the couch with Rho would be very telling.

Well, at least they’re aware of the Ethan/Victoria alliance now, even if it does throw a wrench in their plans. The Southerland pack sure is comprised of some interesting characters, just like the group of vamps. I wonder what’s going to happen when they find out the truth about Vivian–and why hasn’t she been reporting to her pack, I wonder?

Indeed. But they don’t know anything about Odin so that’ll be a surprise I’m sure! And they are interesting. A ragtag group of people who made a pack and now I’m slowly watching it kinda fall apart! Hrmm…we’ll see why she hasn’t been reporting. I’m pretty sure Nolan keeps an eagle eye on her. Plus with the whole memory thing Rho put her through had to throw her for a loop!

It looks like every one has some kind of agenda. I feel like Alana hasn’t seen the worst of what might happen to her. Even with Caine’s intentions of keeping her safe as well as Rho and his guys/gals, it is hard to know who to trust and she will end up caught in the middle.

Oh wow. Oh very wow. Everyone’s coming after Caine and Alana! It’s like their celebrities getting stalked by the paparazzi except this time round no amount of restraining orders will keep them safe. Which makes me feel sad. And OMG for when they finally get physical – talk about passion and such. But yeah like Gayl said Alana really doesn’t know what the worst will be. Death most likely? A broken arm if lucky? The whole rape thing was just the tip of the iceberg after all. And then there’s still the issue of her daddy.

Ha! That’s one analogy that I hadn’t thought of! Although I think Caine would be the kind of celebrity to rip the camera out of the photogs hands and smash it to the ground. He would NOT make a good celebrity! But you’re right. Nothing will keep them safe until Ethan and Odin are taken down. When they get physical it’ll be PHYSICAL!
